Recreational Division

Barrie Dance Conservatory's Recreational Division is designed for students seeking to build poise, confidence, technique and a love for dance & arts.  Students will participate in a weekly dance class emphasizing musicality, coordination, dance technique and fun!  This includes our:

Petite Performers: 3-5 years (Jazz/Tap Combo Classes)

Pre-Junior: 5-7 years

Junior: 8-10 years

Youth: 11 & up

Boys Only Hip-Hop: Junior 6-9 & Youth 10-13

Adult Classes

Micro Mini Company - TBD

 

Mini Company – This program is for ages 6-8. Dancers are required to take Jazz tech + choreography, Tap tech + choreography and Acro tech + choreography. (Hip-Hop optional) 


Part Time Company – This program is for ages 8+. Dancers are required to take 5-6 classes per week. (Ballet Tech, Jazz Tech,Jumps & Turns & Jazz Choreo – Mandatory) plus 2 other classes of their choice (Tap, Tap Tech, Acro, Acro Tech Lyrical or Hip Hop)

* Students will be chosen on choreography classes based on teachers approval *

BDC has three levels – Mini (4-6) Junior (ages 7-10) Intermediate (11-14)

Full-Time Company – This program is for ages 8+.
Dancers are required to take a minimum of 8 classes per week.

Ballet Technique- Mandatory

Jazz Technique, Jumps and Turns & Jazz Choreo - Mandatory

+ 5 other classes of their choice: Tap (& Tap tech), Acro
(& Acro tech), Contemporary, Lyrical & Hip-Hop.

* Students will be chosen on choreography classes based on teachers approval *
BDC Full Time Company has three levels –
Junior, Intermediate & Senior

 

* All Levels - Participate in 3/4 dance competitions.

* All Levels - Participate in 2 community events: Gala & Recital

* Take part in fundraising events (optional)

 

Extra's 

* Solo, duets, trios & small groups are additional and must be approved
by the director. Fees are separate. Due to space and staffing, not all
requests will be approved. We will be selecting students for extras
based on their attitude, attendance and readiness for this level of
training and performance. Solos have to be earned!

Please submit your request on your application form and you will be notified at the end of July. Reminder – Having an extra in a previous season does not guarantee one again for the upcoming new season.
